Our Mission
Everyone deserves a healthy, sustainable, and thriving environment to live in, but Native Hawaiians and other communities of color are disproportionately affected by climate change, unemployment, and negative health outcomes. ʻO Makuʻu Ke Kahua (ʻOMKK) looks to fulfill a critical need in the Puna community, thereby continuing to be a permanent and safe foundation for fostering Native Hawaiian culture.

No ke aha?
A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in Pāhoa, Hawaiʻi, ʻOMKK was developed in 2019 to continue the voyage set forth by the Makuʻu Farmers Association in 1997. To do this work, ʻOMKK is venturing into multiple projects including the construction of a community center, the renovation of our farmers market, and the continuation of our popular educational program- Māla Hoʻoulu ʻIke.
